How to register as a Home Distiller

Two registrations are required;
 
1. Your still needs to be registered and serialized (we take care of that).
 
2. You, as owner of the still also need to be registered (see below).
Complete the DA185. Provide Personal Identification, Contact Details, Address, Tax Details, Banking Details, etc.
 
You need to select both tick boxes DA185.4A15 and DA185.4B12 and then complete those Annexures;
DA185.4A15 – MANUFACTURER OF EXCISABLE GOODS SOLELY FOR OWN USE BY THE MANUFACTURER, and, 
DA185.4B12 – TO OWN, POSSESS OR KEEP STILLS
 
You will have to provide banking details and certified copies of bank statements, municipal account or lease agreement, a simple hand drawn site plan to indicate where the still will be used, your SARS registration details, phone account, copy of ID, pictures of the still and any other information requested.
 
Note: There is no cost involved with registration but you have to renew every 3 years.
